Actor Timothée Chalamet caused a social media stir on Friday as he stepped out on the Venice Film Festival red carpet at the premiere of his new romantic horror film, 'Bones & All'.
The 26-year old actor, who rose to prominence after being nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in 'Call Me by Your Name', is well known for his unusual wardrobe choices.
And Friday's offering proved to be no different as the star left onlookers shocked in a ruby red backless halter-neck.
Timothée completed his look with a matching red cravat tie and black winklepickers as he posed with co-stars Taylor Russell, Mark Rylance, Chloe Sevigny and Michael Stuhlbarg.
His choice of attire drew mixed opinions on social media, meanwhile, with one Twitter user writing: "Timothée is a red carpet favourite, and an amazing actor. This outfit, oh my."
Another enthused: "When you are as cute as Timothée Chalamet, you can wear whatever you want, and still look way better that some of the guys criticizing him on Twitter!"
A third commented: "Honestly perfection. I don't know what more you could want from him.
One user who was less than impressed, meanwhile, declared: "Sorry to say but this look doesn’t suit him at all. He is not comfortable in it, his body posture says it all."
Another said: "He appears to be trying very hard. Trying to do what, I'm not quite sure."
A third added: "I appreciate that he was trying to do something different but the top isn’t really worn in and flattering way. Backless can be fine interestingly but this missed the mark for me. LOVE the colours/materials/bottoms though. I feel like the top is being worn wrong tbh."
Earlier this year, meanwhile, it was revealed that Hollywood star had a secret YouTube channel as a teen, causing fans to go crazy.
Before his acting career, Timothée used to spend his free time custom modifying controllers and showing them off on a YouTube channel, ModdedController360.
The channel, which is still live, only has three public videos published in early 2010 when the actor would have been 14 years old.
Bones & All hits screens in November.
