Chelsea are open to selling Timo Werner this summer but his wage demands mean it could be difficult, football.london understands. The 26-year-old is one of the Blues' highest earners and unless he took a significant pay cut, potential suitors could be put off by his salary.
Borussia Dortmund expressed their interest in Werner a few months ago, but a deal was not feasible for the Black and Yellow because of the finances involved. Dortmund remain keen on Werner, but a move this summer is now seen as highly unlikely.
The Germany international recently spoke to the media about wanting to play more regularly, saying: "First of all, the most important thing is that I am happy. I am happy when I play and score goals. That's the fact. I could be happy everywhere.

"It is clear I want to play more, and I should play more to first be in good shape for the World Cup and, also, to have a chance to play at the World Cup. I think it doesn't change anything whether it is a winter World Cup or in the summer. I think if I play half of the season of the whole season, I should play."
Sky Germany reported on Friday that there is tension between Werner and Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel. A tweet from reporter Florian Plettenberg read: "Update #Werner: His possible departure can become a hot topic. Been told that Werner is annoyed of the fact that Tuchel is too critical & sceptical. There is no harmony. Timo likes #CFC a lot but he wants to play regularly. His big aim: A big role at the World Cup."
Tuchel, when speaking in a press conference in Orlando, was asked about the speculation surrounding Werner's future. The Blues boss denied a rift between the pair, though.
Asked if there was any substance behind the reports, Tuchel said: "I don't think so. In the moment, I think he wants to make his way at Chelsea. He has still to prove a point."
Werner is open to leaving Chelsea, but at the same time, his desire is to prove himself at Stamford Bridge. He started pre-season well, scoring in the opening game of the tour of the United States, but he then picked up a hamstring injury and sat out of the Blues' clash with Charlotte FC on Thursday.
He now looks set to miss the match with Arsenal on Sunday morning due to the injury. Werner's main aim will be to be fit for the trip to Everton on August 6 in Chelsea's opening Premier League fixture.
