Timo Werner is close to sealing a return back to Germany with his former club RB Leipzig after reports emerged on Sunday afternoon that Chelsea are close to agreeing a fee with the Bundesliga outfit.
Werner is set to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal, with a fee believed to be around £30m heading Chelsea's way after paying Leipzig £47m in June of 2020.
Although Fabrizio Romano seemed to confirm the transfer earlier today, Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard stated talks are still ongoing between the two clubs, but the expectation is the 26-year-old will not be a Chelsea player for much longer.

In his piece, Kinsella detailed an alleged fallout over pre-season between Werner and Thomas Tuchel, making his departure an inevitability. This was signalled further by his complete absence from either Chelsea's last pre-season game at Udinese or the matchday squad away at Everton on Saturday.
Werner ended his first season at Chelsea with a Champions League winners medal, netting in the semi-final against Real Madrid and starting the final in Porto against Manchester City.
Although beloved by supporters, Werner greatly struggled to replicate the goalscoring prowess he showcased in Germany, failing to hit double figures in either of his Premier League seasons. Should he finalise his exit, he will end with only 23 goals in 89 appearances.
