Time to climb Fortnite Ranked leaderboards now competitive mode has been fixed – and reset

Fortnite Ranked is back and the planned Season Zero reset has been completed following the rocky release of update 25.10 earlier this week.

Update 25.10 was rolled out in Fortnite on Tuesday, and along with new weapons and items, Epic planned to implement the Fortnite Ranked Season Zero reset. The studio described it as a test run of a seasonal turnover ahead of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 Ranked, and an "opportunity to continue iterating" on its systems on the fly. But Fortnite Ranked was disabled just hours after the update following mass reports of players crashing.

Both Battle Royale and Ranked Zero Build were made unavailable in the Fortnite competitive playlist while Epic investigated the crashing issue. Not ideal given the frosty reception to Ranked so far, and a lot of players took the chance to vent about Fortnite Ranked and the decision to debut it with no Siphon – which is just silly.

It ended up being disabled for a grand total of around 30 hours, with the @FortniteStatus Twitter account confirming that Fortnite Ranked Battle Royale and Fortnite Ranked Zero Build have been re-enabled and the Ranked Reset of update 25.10 has been implemented; but people on Twitter aren't happy about it.

Epic made it very clear that player rank at the time of the reset would help determine the initial placement afterwards, just as it would for a seasonal turnover. But either the reset was too harsh in terms of placement, or players are having a hard time adapting to it – and with the removal of Arena and Siphon from Fortnite competitive, have just had enough.

In a back and forth in the Twitter thread discussing new ranks, Bronze 2 seems to be an incredibly common placement for players, prompting one to comment, "I got Bronze 2 too. Everyone seems to have taken a massive dip." Bronze 2 and Bronze 3 seem to be where most people have landed and now players are comparing their performance and placement pre-reset with the current one – and pointing out the discrepancies.

One player is questoining how it's possible to drop from Gold 1 to Bronze 3, while another says they've won a game with 15 kills and placed in Bronze 3, while a similar total last time reportedly netted them a place in Platinum.

Those gripes are compounded by complaints about Fortnite Ranked queue with player reports of wait times in excess of 15 minutes. One unlucky player had a 35 minute wait and another was stuck for 21 minutes.

The Fortnite Trello board notes some other known Ranked issues, including the game mode being reverted to Solo when turning Ranked on or off, and possible delayed or no credit toward the 'Damage Opponents' Ranked quest

Overall the revamped Fortnite competitive isn't off to a great start with Ranked issues and Fill Cups being cancelled. But we're only a couple of days into the Ranked Season Zero reset so maybe Epic can turn things around.
