Kirkwood Timber Frame has secured £12m worth of new business prior to its first anniversary today.
The Aberdeenshire-based timber frame kit manufacturer has bagged projects ranging from social and private housing developments to one-off self-build homes and commercial work.
To accommodate the high volume of project wins, it has more than doubled headcount since last August.
Starting out with 14 employees, Kirkwood now has 35, including a mix of factory operatives, estimators, technical managers, designers and business development roles.
Initially launched after a £2m investment from sister company Kirkwood Homes to meet the growing demand of timber kits in the region, the manufacturer operates as a stand alone entity and has primarily focused on expanding its factory in Sauchen.
Doubling in size, the 52,118 sq ft facility has modern production machinery for the manufacture of timber frame wall panels, cassette floors, staircases and doorsets.
Malcolm Thomson, business development director at Kirkwood, said: “Thanks to the £2m invested into the business, which allowed us to revamp and extend our factory, we have transformed the process of manufacturing our timber frame kits.
“This improves the safety of our growing team, increases quality for our customers and ultimately drives down lead times to increase the volume of projects we can support across the North-east and throughout the country.”
Kirkwood partners with builders, developers, self-builders and architects across Scotland - enabling 270 homes to be built so far.
