Tim Tszyu reveals his unfinished business with Charlo

Jermell Charlo remains top of Tim Tszyu's "hit list" despite the American's shameful snubbing of Australia's undefeated boxing son of a gun.

Speaking for the first time since Charlo pulled out of the pair's slated unified blockbuster to fight Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez instead, Tszyu admitted he was left infuriated and in disbelief after stumbling across the announcement on social media.

"That's not how business works," Tszyu said on Wednesday.

"I thought like 'No, they're taking the piss aren't they? It was on Canelo's page and it was like undisputed versus undisputed and I thought like what?'

"I was in a state of shock, in all honesty. This is the bloke I've always wanted. Top of the hit list but after a couple of days of that anger, I just moved on.

"When one door closes another one opens up and I'm a hundred per cent positive that there's going to be even bigger things on the horizon than little Charlo."

Instead of fighting Charlo for all four super-welterweight belts under the bright lights of Las Vegas, Tszyu is likely to defend his WBO strap in Australia in October.

His preference is to go toe to toe with American Brian Mendoza.

"I think the option is to fight here," Tszyu said.

"To bring someone big here makes sense financially for all the parties and I think in America it's aired there so they get to see it too so it's not much of a problem fighting here.

"Right now I'd just love to unify. Mendoza's the interim champion for the WBC so that would be something that I'd be interested in."

Instead of the opportunity to become undisputed champion in his 24th bout, the 28-year-old is happy enough to accumulate the belts one at a time like his legendary father Kostya did.

His plan is to have three or four more fights before stepping up into the lucrative middleweight ranks where a showdown with Terence Crawford is the dream.

But Tszyu still has unfinished business with Charlo, who he expects will cop a lesson from Alvarez, boxing's pound-for-pound king.

"Look, Charlo's going to lose his next fight no matter what. So it was either me or Canelo," Tszyu said.

"So he decides to take the one with the bigger pay day. Quite simple.

"If I was in his position and got offered Canelo, I'd take it straight away as well so I don't blame him for taking the Canelo fight. It's just a shit go, really, making me wait all this time.

"I think he gets his arse whooped. Hopefully he doesn't retire after this and I can still fight him even if he goes up to 160 (pounds). That's the plan.

"Me and the whole of Australia wants to whoop his arse. I'll fight 'Mel' for no belts. I don't really care. I'm going for him."
