TikToker shows up 10 hours early for flight so she can beat queues and nap in airport

A TikToker has gone viral after she spent the night at Dublin Airport to beat the queues and get a decent sleep before her flight.

Travel fan Maura Dore, who has been featured on Channel 4 reality show The Bridge, is no stranger to adventure.

When it came time for her to take a trip over to London via Dublin Airport to visit a friend, she decided that sleeping over in the building was a better idea than getting up super early and facing the now notorious queues, RSVP Live reports.

Dublin Airport has been the subject of huge discussion in recent weeks, as massive queues and security processing delays have led passengers to miss their flights.

The airport now recommends passengers arrive 2.5 hours early for short flights and 3.5 hours early for long haul flights, plus an additional hour to either arrival time if you need to check on baggage.

Maura took it to the extreme with her experiment, checking in as early for her flight as possible, which is from midnight the day of the flight, and finding herself a comfortable spot to sleep in the airport while she waited for her morning flight.

Arriving around 9pm at the airport the night before her 7:30am flight, she explained via TikTok that she is excessively early for her flight because: "If not, I would have to wake up at 1am in the morning to get my flight so, I actually get more sleep this way and less queuing time."

Maura explained in the comments that as she does not drive, she has to get up extremely early for flights to try to catch buses and public transport to the airport in Dublin.

When she arrived, there were no queues, so she changed into her pyjamas, got some snacks, and settled in to wait for the clock to roll over to midnight so she could scan her boarding pass.

Maura's plan was to venture to the Terminal 1 waiting area, which has tables, benches, chairs, charging areas and circular pods built into the wall that people can recline inside.

"I honestly can't complain, it's quite comfortable," she said.

"Glad I have my blanket and my little pillow... only an hour now and I can go check in, get myself a sleeping pod and actually get a good six hours sleep."

After heading to security, she observed that the area was "busy" despite the late hour, and that she thought it would be quieter.

However, it only took her a grand total of four minutes to get through security.

Her video footage showed a number of other people sleeping and resting on the airport floor.

"It is four minutes past midnight and I am all checked in, I was the first person through security today, everything is closed but let's go find a sleeping pod and have a sleep," she said.

"I have saved myself a fortune on a hotel," she added, showing the wall pod.

"This is going to be my bed for the night!"

Maura's video, which has racked up over a quarter of a million views, has received mixed opinions from viewers.

"All this for a flight to the UK! If everyone done this, it would cause chaos," said one.

Others said they wanted to give her method a try rather than getting up early.

"I'm doing this next week," read one comment.

Dublin Airport recommendations do not suggest that anyone should arrive any more that 2.5 or 3.5 hours ahead of their flight time.
