Fresh from the depths of TikTok hell, a bunch of blokes have sparked an online frenzy after debating if curly or straight hair was better. However, it was one of the boy’s comments about frizzy hair and hygiene that left punters bamboozled.
In a street interview conducted by Andrew Cochrane (@andrew.cochrane), a bunch of college-aged randos were asked if they preferred curly or straight hair.
Cochrane spoke to two separate groups, one trio and one duo. In both interviews, each participant had differing opinions, so there wasn’t one flat-out answer.
However, their reasoning behind why they preferred straight or curly hair was what sparked a fierce debate in the comments.
In the first group, one of the boys said he preferred straight hair as it’s easier to maintain and it wasn’t something he didn’t have to “deal” with in the mornings.
“Curly hair is a lot to take care of, okay? They wake up with super curly hair. Super messy, okay. You don’t have to deal with that shit but if it’s straight all they have to do is comb it,” the unnamed participant shared.
This reasoning as to why he liked straight hair over curly immediately had punters chatting in the comments, dragging him for acting like he would be the one maintaining the hair.
“The guy in [the] middle is talking as if he will be the one who will take care of my hair,” one wrote.
“He’s talking about curly hair maintenance like he’s the one [who’s] going to be taking care of it,” another commented.
“‘You don’t wanna deal with that.’ Good thing it’s not your hair to deal with,” wrote a third.
Another remark that was heavily discussed by viewers was when one of them said one participant in the duo said: “I feel like straight looks fancy.”
“‘Straight looks fancy’. I beg your pardon??? What does that mean??” one viewer questioned.
“‘Straight looks fancy’ lolz,” another joked.
Ultimately, it was the topic of hygiene that truly sparked a heated debate. You see, one of the blokes briefly mentioned that if someone has straight hair, “you can’t tell how their hygiene is”.
“So if they got curly hair and it’s nice and it’s not frizzy, that means they got good hygiene,” the interviewee chimed in.
The comment left many punters confused, questioning why the bloke thought frizzy hair equalled shit hygiene since it’s a common hair type to have.
“Leave me and my frizzy curls alone,” one TikToker wrote.
“Wait so people think that my frizzy hair means I have bad hygiene?” another questioned with one commenter replying, “Right I’m like what? If I don’t put product it’s frizzy it even gets frizzy with product the next day doesn’t mean I got bad hygiene.”
“Frizzy hair is not bad hygiene. It’s humidity,” wrote a third.
As someone who has dead, fried, frizzy hair, I can confirm that it doesn’t mean I have bad hygiene. SHE’S JUST A BIT DEAD.
