TikTok theory on why Coldplay won’t play Dublin concert

Coldplay have just finished playing six back-to-back sold-out shows at London’s Wembley Stadium and they’ve already announced a series of new tour dates across Europe.

The British rock band, fronted by singer and musician Chris Martin, will be travelling to Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, and Sweden before having three shows in the UK.

But there’s something we noticed…no Irish date! Coldplay haven’t played in Ireland since 2017 and one fan has a theory as to why they don’t intend on coming back.

Clare on TikTok (@bagelbandit) said: “Coldplay haven’t played Dublin since 2017 which is when this happened…” The video clip then showed Jonny Buckland, lead guitarist and co-founder of the rock band Coldplay, getting a bad hit on the head by a water bottle someone threw at him in Croke Park.

Fans in the comments were convinced this is the reason why the band hasn't returned to play in Ireland.

One said: “Don’t blame them”, while another added: “This Dublin show wasn’t even noted in the Head Full of Dreams documentary - Ireland was black listed”.

A third commented: “Someone had to ruin it for the rest of us”, and someone else said: “That looked really painful. Well, that’s what they get”.

A final person posted: “If I'm being honest, this is probably why they’ve not added (Irish) dates/ wouldn’t wanna go somewhere sh*t has been thrown at my head either”.
