A TikTok influencer has been shot dead moments after receiving a phone call telling her to come outside.
Karla Pardini, 21, was murdered near her home in Mexico's Sinaloa state after reportedly receiving a late-night call.
Karla’s mother said the victim received a phone call at around 10.30pm on 20 September and left home – but never returned.
Prior to her death, the influencer had around 90,000 followers on TikTok and regularly shared content on fashion and dance routines.
According to the Sinaloa State Attorney General's Office, the victim was ambushed and shot numerous times near her home in Culiacán in the Mexican state of Sinaloa.
Her bullet-riddled body was found between Catedrático and Ignacio López Rayón streets.
Sinaloa prosecutor Sara Bruna Quiñonez said: “According to information provided by her mother, she received a call, went outside and that's when the attack occurred.”
Quiñonez confirmed that the case is being investigated as a femicide.
Witnesses told the authorities that several armed individuals were seen roaming the area before Karla was shot dead.
Quiñonez said: “We have registered it as a femicide because she was exposed and in a state of helplessness when the attack took place.
“We are carrying out the investigation with the utmost secrecy so as not to alert the possible suspect.”
No arrests have been made yet as the investigation continues.
So far this year, Karla is the 14th woman to be murdered in Sinaloa State, according to the regional government.
In her last video, posted on TikTok on the day of her violent death, the young influencer said: “When they tell me they don’t like me. In short, I hope you like me less.”
At the time of writing, the video has been viewed 1.5 million times and received nearly 1,500 comments.
One TikTok follower commented: “With only 21 years of age, she had her whole life ahead of her. May she rest in peace.”
“So beautiful and with a full life to live... I can't believe how bad people are in this world, may she rest in peace,” wrote another.
Someone else remarked: “Well, the poor thing liked them less and now she's gone.”
“She was 21 years old, so young. My grandmother was 91, both of them in the wake room that same day,” said another.
“Maybe she messed with some dangerous guy,” someone else commented.
Another TikTok user wrote: “I really don't know, but the video shows that she challenged someone and I don't know if it that was the consequence.”
