Young opener Ryan Hackney scored his maiden first-class century as NSW set South Australia a testing run-chase on the final day of their Sheffield Shield match at Karen Rolton Oval.
NSW batted for another half hour at the start of the morning session on Friday before declaring at 3-247, leaving South Australia requiring 386 from 87 overs for victory.
At lunch, South Australia were 2-55 from 20 overs with Daniel Drew (20no) and Nathan McSweeney (17no) at the crease.
NSW resumed at 2-203 and reached 3-247 before captain Moises Henriques declared.
Jason Sangha reached 29 not out with Henriques unbeaten on 16.
Hackney ended day two on 98 and despite a couple of near-misses posted his first century in his fifth Shield match.
Ben Manenti took the only wicket to fall, with Hackney caught at point by Kelvin Smith for 102.
All three innings in the match have seen a declaration with South Australia skipper Jake Lehmann boldly closing his side's innings 138 runs in arrears midway through day three.
