Tigers to return to Campbelltown and Leichhardt in 2024

Wests Tigers will return to their suburban roots in 2024 after making the call to predominantly play out of Campbelltown Stadium and Leichhardt Oval going forward.

The Tigers confirmed on Tuesday they will play five games next year at each of their traditional home grounds, ditching Accor and CommBank Stadiums as home venues.

It will mark the first time the Tigers have gone away from their big-stadium policy since 2004, when they last played five matches each at the two suburban grounds.

Next year, the 5-5 split will allow for the joint-venture to play one home game at Tamworth and another at Magic Round in Brisbane.

The move comes after the Tigers said last year they wanted to move back to their traditional grounds in 2023, only for the women's FIFA World Cup to cut short their plans.

Campbelltown and Leichhardt are both being used as training venues for the global tournament, forcing the Tigers to play matches out of CommBank this year.

However that will not be an issue in 2024, allowing them to fulfil their promise of returning home.

"We have probably denied ourselves a home-ground advantage by having so many home grounds," chairman Lee Hagipantelis told AAP last year.

"There is a very compelling argument to be made for the Wests Tigers to return to their traditional home grounds to secure its identity and presence.

"Enough with being nomads and gypsies. Having five home grounds is not feasible or practical."
