Dylan Grimes and Toby Nankervis will continue as co-captains at the forefront of Richmond's bid to climb back into AFL premiership contention this season.

The pair were endorsed by fellow players and the football department this week, following a thorough review of the Tigers' leadership structure.

Richmond football performance manager Tim Livingstone said Grimes and Nankervis had flourished as leaders after being appointed last year as the first co-captains in Richmond history, taking over from long-time skipper Trent Cotchin.

"Dylan and Toby led our group and broader organisation wonderfully in 2022, complementing each other while also leading as individuals terrifically well," Livingstone said.

"We are looking forward to seeing them continue to grow with the role this upcoming season and are delighted that the group has endorsed them for another year.

"Together they are great drivers of our culture and values and excellent contributors on and off the field.

"It will be exciting to see what these young men can help us achieve in 2023 and beyond."

Richmond's premiership hopes last year ended when they suffered a heartbreaking two-point defeat to the Brisbane Lions in an elimination final.

After winning flags in 2017, 2019 and 2020, they have bolstered their list for another shot at glory under decorated coach Damien Hardwick this season.

The Tigers recruited Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper from GWS to bolster their midfield, while superstar Dustin Martin is set to bounce back after managing just nine matches last season.
