Golf legend Tiger Woods has confirmed he will be travelling to Augusta on Sunday, as he laid out his plan for deciding whether or not he will compete at the Masters. Woods hasn’t featured on the PGA Tour since suffering open fractures to his lower right leg and further injuries to his foot and ankle in a car accident last February.
Following his injuries the 15-time major champion has gone through a gruelling rehabilitation process in order to get himself to competitive fitness and return to the Tour. And, speculation that this remarkable comeback could come at next week’s Masters spiralled after he was included on the tournament’s provisional entry list last week.
Now, as the start of the tournament nears, Woods has confirmed he will be making the trip to Augusta, before making a decision on whether he will compete or not.
Taking to Twitter he told fans: “I will be heading up to Augusta today to continue my preparation and practice. It will be a game-time decision on whether I compete.” This is not the American’s first trip to the famous Georgia course this year after Woods reportedly played a practice round at Augusta in midweek.
The 82-time PGA Tour champion was joined by son Charlie, and fellow professional Justin Thomas for 18 holes at the Masters host course after arriving at Augusta Airport via his private jet on Tuesday. Following his practice round there was promising news for golf fans after a source told ESPN : “He played every [hole]. He looked good to me.”

It was suggested that the main concern surrounding his Masters comeback was the gruelling walk the Augusta course presents across four days of competition. If the American isn’t to compete this week, he has confirmed he will still be on the Augusta grounds on tournament week.
Speaking at last month’s Genesis Invitational Woods confirmed that competing or not, he would attend the annual Masters champions dinner. He said: “I'll be there Tuesday and it will be a great dinner - I don't know what kind of sushi we are going to have!"
Despite a potential fairytale return next week, the five-time green jacket winner has confirmed that any comeback to the Tour will only be part-time due to the effect of his injuries. Discussing his future earlier this year he commented: “Will I come back and play a full schedule?
“No. That will never happen again. “I can play certain events here and there, but on a full-time level, no, that will never happen again."
