Wests Tigers fullback Daine Laurie is set to miss more than a month of NRL action after a knee injury suffered in his side's win against South Sydney was found to be worse than first expected.
Laurie's knee has been ruled a grade two MCL injury, meaning he will miss four-to-six matches with the partial ligament tear.
The Tigers, who said more information about the injury would be released on Tuesday, had initially hoped he'd be sidelined for just a fortnight.
Coach Michael Maguire is expected to name Staford To'a at fullback for Sunday's clash with St George Illawarra.
To'a, 21, was in fine form in the centres with 106m and two try assists in the 23-22 win.
It continues a brutal injury run for the Tigers, with James Roberts, Kelma Tuilagi and Jake Simpkin all dropping out of the side in the leadup to Saturday night's victory.
Roberts (back) and Simpkin (ankle) are expected to be available for the Dragons clash in Wollongong.
They're already without Adam Doueihi, Tommy Talau and AJ Kepaoa until mid-season, while Shawn Blore will miss the entire campaign with an ACL.
