Tiger King star Joe Exotic has found a new love interest in prison and has compared their romance to the iconic teenage vampire film Twilight, according to reports.
The media personality, who rose to fame in the hit Netflix series Tiger King, is currently serving 22 years in prison in North Carolina on charges of animal abuse and attempted murder for hire after he plotted to kill rival Carole Baskin.
But Joe’s incarceration hasn’t stopped him finding love and even popping the question to a fellow inmate, with TMZ reporting that he is now engaged to new man John Graham.
It’s claimed that Joe, 59, discussed his new love interest in a letter sent to his attorney, where he explained that he met his new fiancé, who he describes as “extremely romantic and caring”, after they were both housed in the same prison unit.
Exotic writes that the pair send letters to each other daily and speak on the phone three times a day, adding that he wants to get married to John “right away” after his divorce is finalised.
The Netflix star describes John very differently to his estranged husband, 25-year-old Dillon Passage, who he reportedly filed for divorce from last month and who he accuses of being “selfish, younger, all about a party and wanting to be famous”.
Joe also compared his romance with John to 2008 fantasy film Twilight, which tells the story of Bella (Kristen Stewart) falling for vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), the Daily Star reports .
“It’s as close as that,” Exotic writes. “His touch, the way he talks, his voice. I still have a shirt so I smell him. But he is so amazing.
“He to this day says I’m his missing piece,” he adds.
Dillion’s lawyers have previously said he will agree to finalise his divorce from Joe if he can obtain a permanent injunction banning his ex-husband from contacting him.
He also wants the injunction to prevent Exotic from "stalking or harassing him", and for both men to retain the assets they owned at the start of the marriage.
His lawyers claimed that when Exotic was presented with the divorce terms in September of last year, he responded by saying: "It will be a cold day in hell before I sign these papers.... You're out of your f***ing mind."
However, it’s claimed that Tiger King star had a change of heart after falling head over heels for his new fiancé.
