'Tiger hide' turns out to be dog skin, 4 acquitted in Madhya Pradesh

BHOPAL: In an embarrassing setback to Madhya Pradesh police and forest department, a court in Chhindwara district acquitted four persons arrested for poaching tigers after forensic experts said the confiscated 'tiger skin' was actually that of a dog.

Sandip Ahirwar, Rajesh Vishwarkama, Ramkumar Ahirwar and Abhijit alias Matru were arrested from Sandip's house in Chhindwara's Ranikamath village on July 22, 2017, in a joint operation by police and forest department. It was alleged that the four were trying to sell a tiger hide for Rs 8 lakh when they were caught. The 'tiger skin' was confiscated.
