A new proposal to build 11 villas in the village of Coylton has prompted objections from concerned residents.
Ayrshire Live can reveal that plans have been lodged to build 11 homes in the Hole Road area of the village.
This latest development proposal comes hot on the heels of a separate one mooted for the village’s Woodhead Road in December, where developers earmarked a parcel of land for 176 static caravans.
Since being unveiled, the Woodhead Road proposals have come up against stiff opposition from people who’ve voiced concerns over the environmental impact the holiday park could have - as well as the effect on local infrastructure.
The applicants behind this latest separate proposal for 1.5 storey homes at Hole Road are Viga Homes Ltd, who operate across the Ayrshire region. Their agents are Edesign Architects and Planning.
In their planning and design statement the agents say they want to generate “a positive contribution” to the site and wider Coylton area.
Affordable housing won't be part of the proposals, because the site area is less than 0.6 Hectares, meaning the threshold for which triggers a requirement for Affordable Housing “is not met.”
Jack McClymont said in his objection: “This part of the village is already under significant pressure due to poor road infrastructure.
“The proposed entrance/exit to the development is in a dangerous location and the road network surrounding this development cannot support the additional load which will be caused, 1) by the construction of the development and 2) by the residents of the development.”
He added: “Services within the village are already over stretched and the new development will have a detrimental impact on the existing surrounding properties and people already living within this densely populated area of the village.”
Luke Bonaccorsi said: “We have only recently purchased our property and one of the main selling points for us was the area being quiet.
“This development has the potential to decrease the value of our property due to increased sound and light pollution, and additional traffic.”
Georgia Binkhorst added: “I’m very concerned about the traffic impact and danger to road users that this development poses.”
Viga Homes Ltd say in their developer introduction: “Here at Viga, our vision is guided by two clear principles - doing the right thing and making a positive impact.
“We are committed to building high-quality homes, strengthening communities, and doing everything we can to have a positive influence on the environments in which we build and the lives of the people living within them.”
Coylton Community Council is aware of the proposals and advises those who wish to comment on the plan to do so on the South Ayrshire Council online planning portal.
