Boris Johnson officially resigns as Prime Minister after months of scandal
Boris Johnson has announced he will quit as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after months of scandal battered his premiership.
It comes after days of chaos that saw a large number of minister resign and call for his head over his handling of the Chris Pincher crisis.
He will remain as Prime Minister until a successor is in place, expected to be by the time of the Conservative Party conference in October.

Rangers fan who abused Celtic players in vile sectarian tirade outside Ibrox avoids jail
A Rangers fan who shouted offensive remarks to Celtic players outside Ibrox Stadium has avoided jail. David Murray went on the tirade to the Hoops stars as they entered the stadium for an Old Firm match on January 2, 2021.
The 26-year-old hurled comments and sang offensive songs. A viral video emerged of a group of Gers supporters shouting at their opponents before the match.
The group can be heard shouting remarks such as "Paedos" and "f***** c***" to Celtic staff leaving the team coach. Murray pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to conducting himself in a disorderly manner on January 2, 2021.

DWP could monitor your bank account and social media activity over the summer in new crackdown
More than 20 million people across the UK are claiming State Pension or benefits from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to help with the additional costs of day-to-day living. However, in May, the DWP shared details of a new £613 million plan to stop an estimated £4 billion being lost in fraud and error over the next five years.
Between 2021 and 2022, there have been 600 convictions for benefit fraud across the UK and the ‘Fighting Fraud in the Welfare System’ plan outlines how the DWP is creating a new 2,000-strong team dedicated to reviewing more than two million existing Universal Credit claims.

Scots employee from hell pulled loaded shotgun on boss and tortured him with dog chain
An employee-from-hell regularly pulled a loaded shotgun on his boss and tortured him with a dog chain during two decades of systematic violent abuse. Ronald McLennan has been locked up after a jury found him guilty of putting his employer's life in danger during the 20-year bullying campaign.
Full details of the incredible working relationship between McLennan and his boss, Ian Robertson, were revealed during a trial at the High Court in Dundee. The jury heard about incidents of water-boarding, death threats, car crashes, watery open graves and torture scenes reminiscent of Reservoir Dogs.

Two-year-old boy and grandparents die in A9 car crash as man and woman remain in hospital
A two-year-old boy and his grandparents have been named as the victims of a fatal car crash on the A9 on Tuesday morning. David McPherson, 68, was driving a red Ford Fiesta when it crashed with a black Mercedes C Class.
He was pronounced dead at the scene on the A9 at Slochd Summit, near Carrbridge. His wife Elza McPherson, 64, and their two-year-old grandson were taken to hospital, where they both tragically died a short time later.
A man and a woman, aged 67 and 65, who were travelling in the black Mercedes were also injured and taken to hospital. Their conditions are now described as stable by medical staff.
