The heartbroken mum of a Scots teenager found dead in his bedroom has told how he was taking part in the dangerous viral Blackout Challenge.
Lauryn Keating, 30, discovered her 14-year-old son Leon Brown unresponsive in his room at their home in Cumbernauld on August 25.
She later learned he had attempted the same terrifying trend that is believed to have caused 12-year-old Archie Battersbee to suffer a fatal brain injury that later led to his death.
The deadly challenge encourages people to restrict their breath until they fall unconscious. This can cause low levels of oxygen in the brain that can lead to seizures, serious injury or death.

Shamed Scots teacher who 'had sex with pupil' talks of 'clean slate' in social media return
A former PE teacher who allegedly had sex with a pupil at prom has returned to social media to post videos doing yoga and assuring viewers they can have a “clean slate”.
Melissa Tweedie was struck off the teaching register by The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) in February following an investigation into her behaviour with a teen pupil. The 28-year-old was alleged to have slept with the 18-year-old after the school leavers night at SWG3 in Glasgow in June 2017.
The former teacher at Gleniffer High School in Paisley, Renfrewshire, moved to Dubai following the allegations and later locked her social media accounts down during the hearing. However, months after being struck off, Tweedie returned to social media to post meditation and online classes on YouTube after changing her career to become a yoga teacher in Dubai.
In a series of videos, posted in May, the shamed Miss can be heard addressing her viewers as she moves around into various yoga and meditation positions.
Car ploughs into house in Ayrshire as crews called to reports of 'gas leak'
A car has ploughed into the side of a house in Ayrshire with emergency services racing to the scene.
Fire crews and police are among those to have attended the incident, which took place on St Margaret's Road, Ardrossan, around 11.45am this morning, September 1. Pictures from the scene show a huge emergency response, with at least one appliance in attendance.
A white motor lies in front of the terraced housing, with crews working around it.
A gas company vehicle can also be seen, amid reports of a gas leak, after locals told of a 'strong smell of gas'. It is understood the vehicle may have hit a gas box on the side of a building, however this has not been confirmed at this time.
Scots woman 'spiked' at Glasgow bar claims security dumped her on street
A young Scots woman who was allegedly spiked at a bar in Glasgow claims security staff dragged her outside alone and refused to call an ambulance.
The woman was celebrating her friend's 30th birthday at arcade bar NQ64, in Glasgow, and began feeling unwell after one drink on Saturday, August 27.
Her friends claim she had gone to the bathroom when they spotted two members of security dragging her out of the venue. The group claim the bouncers left the woman in the street, despite her being unable to stand and drifting in and out of consciousness.
Her friends say, as the victim lay on the pavement, security staff from NQ64 ignored her until a chef from nearby Bar Square and an off-duty nurse came to her aid and called an ambulance.
Scots tourist dies and friend injured after scooter crash with bin lorry on Thai island
A Scottish tourist was killed and a second seriously injured after crashing a motorcycle into the back of a rubbish truck on a Thai island.
James Stephenson Young, 36, and a friend, Pierre, 30 are believed to have been drinking at a local bar on Koh Samui before trying to ride back to their hotel in the early hours of Thursday morning.
They are believed to have ploughed the white Honda scooter into the back of the bright yellow garbage truck while trying to overtake the vehicle as made a turn on a dark narrow road at around 1 am local time.
Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and performed CPR on James, who had been a pillion passenger, for around 10 minutes. However, James, from Bonnyrigg, in Edinburgh, Scotland, was pronounced dead and found to have a broken neck and severe head wounds.
Pierre, whose surname has not been released, was taken to the Koh Samui Hospital for treatment.
