DHARWAD: North interior Karnataka is expected to receive highly localised thunderstorms on April 12 and April 13 and medium rain from April 14-17.
The department of agricultural meteorology at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Dharwad has said in a press release that because of a strong upper air circulation pattern in the southern ocean of Tamil Nadu, moisture from the ocean is being pulled towards the landmass, hence widespread rain is expected in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and southern/coastal Karnataka from April 14 onwards.
“When it comes to the North interior Karnataka region, highly localised thunderstorms are expected on April 12-13 and light to medium rains at many places coupled with lightning from April 14-17,” the release said.
It also said that the temperature will hover at 39-41 degree Celsius in the Kalyana Karnataka region, 39-40 degree Celsius in western Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Raichuru and eastern Belagavi districts; 36-38 degree Celsius in southern Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Vijayanagara and Ballari district and 33-35 degree Celsius in southwest Belagavi, west of Dharwad and Uttara Kannada district.
