Wet and windy weather is set to lash Ireland over the coming days.
Met Eireann has issued a nationwide Status Yellow weather warning for rain, saying: “High rainfall amounts this weekend may cause disruption”.
Thunder is forecast throughout Saturday and into Saturday night, with the possibility of localised flooding on the cards.

The national forecaster said: “Today will start off cloudy and wet for much of Ulster and Leinster, with rain slowly clearing northeastwards through the afternoon and evening. Elsewhere, there will be a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, potentially turning heavy and thundery.
“Temperatures will be cooler than in recent days with highs of 14C to 17C. Winds will be mainly light southeasterly, though it will be breezy at times near coasts.
“There will be clear spells and scattered showers at first, but more persistent showery rain, accompanied by thunder and strengthening southeasterly winds, will then sweep northwards over the country. The rain will be heavy in places, bringing a possibility of localised flooding.
“Lowest temperatures of 7C to 11C. Becoming blustery in many areas, especially along eastern and northern coasts.”
Another blustery day is expected on Sunday. The meteorological service said: “Strong winds will abate on Sunday morning as heavy rain clears northwards. It will be a breezy day with sunny spells and some scattered showers.
“By evening, a further band of heavy rain will push in across the southern half of the country and winds will strengthen. Highest temperatures of 17C to 21C in fresh and gusty southeast winds.
“Rain will clear northwards overnight with clear spells and scattered showers following. Minimum temperatures of 11C to 14C in fresh and blustery southeast winds.”
The unsettled conditions are set to continue into next week as low pressure continues influencing our weather.
Met Eireann said: “Breezy on Monday with bright spells and scattered showers. More persistent rain will extend from the south later in the day. Highest temperatures of 17C to 22C in fresh and gusty southeast winds.
“Clear spells and showers overnight, some heavy and prolonged in the southwest. Highest temperatures of 11C to 14C in fresh southeast winds.
“A day of sunny spells and scattered showers on Tuesday, some heavy. Highest temperatures of 18C to 22C in blustery south or southeast winds.
“Clear spells and a few showers overnight, some heavy and prolonged in the south. Lowest temperatures of 10C to 13C in moderate east or southeast breezes.
“Staying rather unsettled with low pressure dominating.”
The Status Yellow rainfall alert for the entire country is in place until noon on Sunday.
A further nationwide Weather Advisory for 'disruptive wet and windy weather' is in place until 7pm Monday.
