Police have launched an investigation after lit fireworks were posted through letterboxes in a village in Worcestershire in what seems to be a sick Halloween prank.
Residents in the village of Catshill, Bromsgrove were terrorised by thugs in the early hours of November 1 as six homes were targeted while unsuspecting residents were still in bed.
Fireworks were pushed through the letterboxes between 2am and 5am and exploded inside the homes.
Police have said that it was a "miracle nobody was injured", although Birmingham Live reports that the explosions caused damage and fires and also left homeowners in "significant distress".
The homes targeted were located in Aintree Close, Lingfield Walk and Green Lane and police officers attended the incident alongside Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, carrying out a thorough search of the area.
Inspector Carrie Solomon, of West Mercia Police, said: "These incidents are truly shocking and it’s a miracle that nobody was injured. Behaviour like this is dangerous, totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated."
She added: “I’d like to reassure the local community that we are working hard to identify the perpetrators and will have increased patrols in the area over the coming days, particularly overnight. If anyone in the area has dash cam, video doorbell or CCTV footage which may show the offenders then I’d ask you to please get in touch.”
