A thug who repeatedly kicked a stricken grandmother on the head when a wake for their work colleague erupted into violence has been ordered to pay her £1,200 in compensation.
Grant Rankin, 27, kicked helpless Elizabeth Richardson, 54, unconscious as she lay on the floor of a pub in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.
A funeral service had earlier taken place for a colleague at distribution firm DHL before mourners gathered at the Greenhills Bar.
But simmering tensions in the venue boiled over and a mass brawl broke out.
Richardson, who was not involved in the fight, was caught between the rival factions and ended up on the floor before being battered by former workmate Rankin.

She was rushed to hospital for a CT scan and suffered bruising as a result of the attack but has no memory of what happened.
Following the vicious attack, Rankin sent his victim a message which said: "Are you ok? It was me who kicked you but it was by accident. I feel sick about it."
Dad-of-one Rankin, of East Kilbride, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted the assault of April 2019.
His father Alexander Rankin, 55, admitted threatening or abusive behaviour by shouting, swearing, engaging in a fight and acting aggressively during the incident.
Prosecutors accepted he had acted under provocation.
Sheriff Ross Macfarlane QC ordered the younger Rankin to pay Richardson compensation and told the first offender it was a direct alternative to custody.
Rankin snr, also of East Kilbride, was fined £600 which was reduced from £900 because of his guilty plea.
Speaking earlier, Richardson, who was left with crippling anxiety after being attacked, said: "I feel as if I have had three years of my life just taken away from me, to this day I can't remember everything that happened.
"The worst thing is to this day I don't know why I was attacked by Grant the way I was. I will never understand it."
She added: "The last thing I remember is looking up and seeing someone running towards me with a chair and being in the middle of a group of men.
"Then that's it, blank, until I came to in hospital.
"Police told me Grant could be seen coming from outside the bar on the CCTV to get involved.
"Apparently he was kicking me to the head several times while I was lying on the ground, even at the point where I was unconscious."
Sheriff Macfarlane allowed Rankin to pay the compensation at £100 per month and ordered his father to pay his fine within the next 28 days.
