A monster who kicked and stamped a hole into a woman's face while wearing steel toe-capped shoes has been jailed for life after being found guilty of attempted murder. Andy Hurns, 32, launched the "brutal and sustained assault" after forcing his way into his work colleague's home in Retford, Notts., on November 24, 2020.
A court heard he had necked two bottles of vodka and went to the house intending to take money and jewellery before carrying out the shocking doorstep attack. The 58-year-old victim was kicked "like a football" and suffered life-changing facial injures after Hurns also stamped on her head with steel toe-capped shoes.
She had fractures to her eye sockets, cheekbones and a dislocated jaw from the force of the brutal blows and described how Hurns had "wrecked her life". Hurns was today (Monday) jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years after being found guilty of attempted murder at Nottingham Crown Court.
