Thrilled Peter Andre dreams of family reunion as Australia opens borders after 2 years

Peter Andre has shared his excitement as Australia finally opens it's borders after two years.

The Mysterious Girl singer, 48, who is originally from the land Down Under, has been dreaming of a family reunion ever since the pandemic struck in March 2020.

The dad-of-four has been riddled with concern over his elderly parents who are still in Australia all throughout the coronavirus pandemic, but he'll now be able to finally reunite with them after a tough 24 months.

Upon the news that Australia is now opening it's borders to travellers as Covid-19 restrictions ease there, Pete took to Instagram to share his joy, exclaiming that he's 'so happy' he'll finally be able to reunite with his beloved parents.

Sharing the breaking news article from BBC, Peter gushed: "I am so, so, so, happy."

The Australian government imposed some of the world's strictest travel bans after shutting itself off in March 2020.

But now that the borders are finally open again, more than 50 international flights are due to land on Monday.

Travellers can enter all states except Western Australia, which remains closed until 3 March and will require three jabs.

Double-jabbed visitors do not need to quarantine, but unvaccinated travellers must do so in a hotel for up to 14 days at their own expense.

The happy news comes after Peter admitted that he begged the Australian embassy to allow him to fly back to his homeland last year.

The singer was beyond desperate to hug his dear mum and dad Thea and Savvas who are both in their mid-eighties.

Pete's parents have been unable to travel from Australia due to the fact the government has enforced a strict ban on most international travel.

So, in a final attempt to reunite with his dear folks, Peter took it upon himself to contact the Australian embassy in the hopes that they would let him fly to see his mum Thea, who at the time was 'not very well’.

Opening up about his heartache in his new! Magazine column last year, Peter insisted that his parents were his ‘main priority’.

"My number one priority this year is to go and see my mum and dad in Australia, as I miss them too much," he penned at the time.

“I'm anxiously awaiting the borders opening as it's been upsetting not seeing them, especially as my mum isn't very well.”

Peter went on to explain that he hoped he could fly Down Under because his mother was not in the best health, but sadly, he didn't fit the criteria for emergency flights.

“I actually contacted the Australian Embassy because there are special circumstances whereby family members can fly over, but sadly I don't fit the criteria,” he explained.

The former I’m A Celebrity star was worried that he may not see his parents ever again due to their age.

An emotional Peter explained: "It really worries me because mum and dad are in their late 80s. When they were in their 40s and I was a teenager, not seeing them for a year, you just knew you’d see them a year later and they’d be fine.”
