A mum has revealed how she has managed to save hundreds of pounds on her washing with a simple laundry detergent swap.
Holly Smith, the founder of the largest Facebook Money Saving Group, uses an Eco Egg, reports YorkshireLive. The plastic egg filled with pellets replaces both her laundry detergent and fabric softener, and she told ITV's This Morning that since starting to use it in 2018 she has saved more than £500.
The mum-of-four shared her money-saving hack with hosts Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond. She hopes her tip can help others save money too as the cost of living crisis deepens and families look to make cuts where they can.

The Eco Egg - which you add alongside your washing in the machine drum - costs just £8 to initially buy and lasts for 70 washes. You can then buy a refill which will give you another 50 washes.
Holly, who is known as the coupon queen, said she now won't use anything else. She told This Morning viewers: "I was calculating this earlier and since I started using this in 2018, I've managed to save over £500. I've got four kids so I'm constantly washing over and over.
"So basically it's a little plastic egg and it's got pellets inside - the first one costs £8 and it's a replacement for laundry detergent and fabric softener in one. You know when you just throw a liquid tab into the washing machine, well you just throw that in, that's all you need and that will last 70 washes."
She added: "It's brilliant, I've got two children under two and you know that little bit of sick up, or you just chuck something in, you know what it's like, I don't want to put a full load on, whack one of them in, they are amazing."
