Two teenagers have been charged with leading police on three separate pursuits through central west NSW in a ute allegedly stolen from central Queensland.
Police say the pair and a 12-year-old child were all eventually caught and arrested at a fast food facility in Parkes, after allegedly stealing fuel from a roadhouse in Coonamble and leading police on three different pursuits in Dubbo, Alectown and Parkes.
Chief Inspector David Harvey said the three were all from Queensland, and alleged the Mitsubishi Triton was stolen in Roma around 1am on Saturday.
"They may well have committed more offences if police didn't intervene," he said.
He said police had no idea why the group travelled almost 900 kilometres by road from Roma to Parkes.
The three pursuits in western NSW were all terminated by police because of safety concerns.
The car was eventually found on the grounds of a school in Parkes about 11am on Saturday and seized for forensic examination.
A 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with receiving property stolen outside NSW, dishonestly obtaining property by deception and two counts of failing to stop for police.
He was refused bail at Parramatta Children's Court.
Baringa Blowes, 19, has pleaded guilty to two counts of receiving property stolen outside of NSW and has received an 18-month community corrections order.
Blowes must not return to NSW for at least 12 months as part of the order.
The 12-year-old boy was arrested but released pending further inquiries.
