Three wonderkids to sign on FIFA 23 Chelsea career mode including Tuchel transfer target

The release of FIFA 23 has seen a raft of new features to bring players even closer to the experience of real life managers through its popular career mode feature.

For the first time, players are able to play as real life managers, with Chelsea fans able to forge a career as manager while playing as new boss Graham Potter instead of creating their own character. Also, there have been developments with the budgetary features with managers required to impress the board with their transfer business.

This includes a transfer grading system, with your transfer acumen being graded on each deal making it more important than ever to secure a financially viable deal for your club, reflecting the feedback that negotiators will receive in real life from boards and fanbases alike.

There is also more incentive to control spending, with the transfer budget being factored in to the overall club budget meaning that mangers will have to closely watch what they spend to avoid financial turmoil.

This will inspire managers more than ever to seek bargains in the transfer market, with the signing of young, talented players who will have a long term impact at the club. Here, we take a look at some of the best wonderkids to sign for your Chelsea career mode on FIFA 23.

1. Josko Gvardiol

OVR: 81 - POT: 89

The RB Leipzig defender was a summer target for Chelsea in real-life and with an ageing defence at the club would fit the bill going forward very well at Stamford Bridge. At €53million (£46.2million) he would be a pricey option but would lock down the defence for a number of years.

Whether or not you are playing with the two or three centre-backs it is always useful to have the option of a left-footed player, which is something currently lacking at the club besides Marc Cucurella who is classified as a left-back in the game.

Gvardiol would be an expensive purchase, but given his high overall rating currently is one which would make an immediate impact and is likely to become Chelsea's highest rated centre-back quickly given the age of both Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly.

2. Alan Gonzalo Varela

OVR: 75 - POT: 85

Another area of Chelsea's squad which is ageing is defensive midfield, with N'Golo Kante now 31 years of age. While the two-time Premier League winner holds an overall rating of 89 and will remain one of the best in the game, he will drop off after a couple of seasons making it worth blooding in a replacement before then.

Boca Juniors' Alan Varela could be the man to get up to speed before then, there is limited scope for players with an 89 potential in this position, but Varela is the highest in terms of potential within the game and an €18.4million (£16million) release clause provides scope to strengthen elsewhere.

His 85 potential would make him an elite player, and while a youth academy product may well prove to have more potential overall, his current 75 rating is high and will prove a solid squad option until he is ready for first team action.

3. Noni Madueke

OVR: 77 - POT: 86

Chelsea do have a strong squad, but one role within the setup which is lacking going forward is provision for a left-footed winger to play on the right hand side.

This role in the squad is currently held by Hakim Ziyech, and while Kai Havertz can be retrained, this would be an unnatural role for the German making Noni Madueke a natural choice for the squad going forward.

At just 20 years of age and an overall rating of 77, the former Tottenham academy product would be available for as little as €23million (£20.1million) and would be an effective option off the bench before ably filling the role of the club's starting winger in the future. Pace is a particularly important feature within this year's game and his 89 sprint speed would mark him as a very quick player in the future.
