Three things we learned as Celtic rotation men send Postecoglou message in Premier Sports Cup stroll

Celtic are through to the last eight of the Premier Sports Cup after a comfortable 4-1 victory over Ross County in Dingwall.

Manager Ange Postecoglou made nine changes from the side which beat Dundee United 9-0 just over 72 hours previous but it wasn't noticeable as they breezed past their Dingwall hosts. Callum McGregor opened the scoring and Giorgos Giakoumakis marked his return to the starting XI with another goal before half-time.

This competition was one by Celtic last December and it never looked in doubt they'd be heading for an early exit after putting County up against it early on. Alex Iacovitti got one back for the hosts but Daizen Maeda and James Forrest made the league champions' extend to three goals. This win sets the stage for a huge week where they will host Rangers and Champions League holders Real Madrid before next Tuesday night is done.

Here are three things we learned as the Celtic rotation men sent a message in Dingwall.

Rotation strength

This was a rotated Celtic XI, not that you would know it right enough from the sheer firepower they were able to call upon.

Kyogo Furuhashi and Giakoumakis is an ominous pair of strikers while Aaron Mooy strolled through the match. Others, like David Turnbull, also looked comfortable in an ominous show of strength for the rest of their domestic peers.

Ticket experiment

County took the decision to trial two stands full of away supporters at their Global Energy Stadium, with travelling Celtic fans packing out their allocation.

It will be an added bit of cash for the Staggies but vast amounts of empty seats in their own end perhaps sent a message show their supporters feel. Celtic fans were in fine voice throughout and seemed to enjoy their trip.

Set-piece kings

That's seven times already this season that the Hoops have managed to score direct from a set-piece routine.

Tonight's was a simple corner into the feet of McGregor and then a shot into the net, but this is an area Postecoglou is seemingly using to great effect.
