Wildfire smoke has settled over three of Idaho's most rural counties, and state regulators are forecasting air quality bad enough to cause health effects in people with existing lung and heart disease.
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality advisory for Butte, Custer and Lemhi counties, relayed through the National Weather Service Pocatello office. The Air Quality Index is forecast to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category. Open burning is prohibited by air quality rule for the duration.
