Cases of a specific type of scam are on the rise, with warnings issued particularly for those who still work from home.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has urged people to make the proper checks as one victim of the screen-sharing scheme lost more than £48,000. Using the technique, fraudsters are able to embed themselves in their victims' digital devices to access banking and other financial details, reports WalesOnline.
Requests to share a screen are perhaps more common since people switched to remote working as well as a reliance on video calls and other methods of communication outside of offices. The FCA say more than £25m was lost to these kinds of scams between January 2021 and March 2022.
