Three prison officers suspended from privately run jail in West Lothian

Three prison officers have been suspended from privately-run prison Addiewell. The officers, suspended three months ago, are under investigation following allegations of serious misconduct at the West Lothian jail.

Prison sources said the rumour mill was going into overdrive why the officers were sent home from the scandal-hit prison, which is run by Sodexo, but bosses are remaining tight-lipped over the reason.

A prison source said: "They were told to leave the premises and under investigation for allegations made against them. It's all very serious but nobody is quite sure what they're supposed to have done. A prisoner was violently attacked recently and everyone has assumed it was because of that but we're being told this isn't the reason.
