Three new Bristol restaurants shortlisted in national awards

Three Bristol restaurants open for less than a year have been shortlisted for a national award. Namak in St Werburgh’s, Tomo No Ramen in Old Market and Yafo in Southville have all been included in the ‘Best Restaurant in Bristol’ category of the 4th annual British Restaurant Awards.

Indian restaurant Namak opened on Mina Road, St Werburgh’s in February 2022. It’s the first restaurant from chef Harris Massey, who originally worked for award-winning national Indian restaurant chain Dishoom.

Ramen restaurant Tomo No Ramen started life as a pop-up by chef James Stuart at the end of 2021. It is now a permanent business on West Street, Old Market.

Plant-based falafel restaurant Yafo on North Street, Southville, launched at the end of 2021 in a former butchers’ shop. Popular dishes include falafel wraps and shakshuka.

As well as these three new businesses, the Best Restaurant Bristol category features five well-established local eateries. These are: Adelina Yard, Root, Wilsons, Casamia and The Ethicurean at Wrington.

The British Restaurant Awards is an annual awards ceremony that provides an opportunity for customers to nominate and vote for the best restaurants, chefs and culinary experiences in the UK. Readers of Chelsea Monthly magazine, The National Post, and members of the World Restaurant Awards Guide were given the opportunity to nominate their favorite restaurants per city, region, and throughout the UK.

The restaurants that receive the most number of nominations are shortlisted and released for the public to vote. This year’s British Restaurant Awards 2022 take place in London on May 12.
