Three Kings gin made with frankincense and myrrh goes on sale at UK supermarket

Customers at one UK supermarket will get the opportunity to enjoy the ultimate festive tipple this Christmas - a gin infused with frankincense and myrrh. Morrisons has announced that the special three kings-themed spirit is available now.

The drink is a nod to the biblical Magi, who brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the baby Jesus. Frankincense and myrrh are resins - the former is woody and sweet, with the latter more bitter and aromatic.

The spirit is described by the supermarket as "a blend of 17 botanicals, carefully selected and distilled into a complex gin with a rich depth of spices and a long, aromatic finish". Alan Jackson, spirits buyer at Morrisons, said: "We think we’ve created the perfect tipple for festive get-togethers at home.
