Authorities reported that at least three individuals were shot and wounded during an Eid al-Fitr celebration in Philadelphia. The incident took place at approximately 2:30 p.m., with police responding to around 30 gunshots fired at the event. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel disclosed during a news briefing that two groups engaged in gunfire, prompting attendees to flee the area.
Law enforcement officers successfully apprehended four males and a female, recovering four firearms from the scene. A 15-year-old male suspect, who was armed, was shot by police and sustained injuries to his shoulder and leg. Additionally, another individual suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach, while a juvenile sustained an injury to the hand. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in connection with the incident.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear at this time. The shooting unfolded in the Parkside neighborhood of Philadelphia, coinciding with festivities marking the conclusion of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month.
