Three great apps for selling pre-loved things to download for 2023

Buying and selling pre-loved items has long been a thing but people are doing it now more than ever. As the cost-of-living crisis continues to batter the country, people are looking for ways they can get a little cash to help keep them going.

One way of doing this is selling your old clothes and items on an app. Some apps allow you to sell in your area while others can have you selling worldwide. There’s an app out there that will suit your needs.

We’ve come up with just three that could help you make and save some money this year.

One of the top apps to use to get things for cheap - or to be more accurate for free - is Freecycle. The idea of freecycle is to allow people to get rid of the unwanted items, from clothes to garden furniture, for free as long as they are in good condition. The app connects you with people in your local area who want something you’re selling.

Running since 2013, Freecycle has a current rating of 4.1 out of 5 with nearly 2,000 reviews. Most are positive with many people saying it’s great and easy to use. One reviewer said: “This is an ideal way to help unwanted items live another life with new families as well as helping those who are having difficulties.”

The next must-have pre-loved app - Swappy Books - will appeal to bookworms as it allows you to save money on books. The idea is to match the seller with someone who wants the book you no longer want.

The final app Vinted has really taken off over the past year, with more and more people moving from other clothes selling apps like Depop and eBay. It has an overall rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars on the App store and has 65 million users. The idea of Vinted is to get rid of some of your old clothes and other small items most of the time for low-selling prices.

Whether you use one of the ones we have suggested or one you have found yourself, selling items you no longer want can be a great way to get a bit of money back in the bank.
