Three children were found sleeping on a mattress in the back of a van being driven by a suspected drug driver.
Police pulled the van over on the M6 in the early hours of Sunday after they said it was seen speeding on the motorway. The driver was found to be under the influence of cannabis by officers at the scene, police said.
Following the positive drugs test, a search was carried out of the man's van where three children were found sleeping on a mattress inside. Police said the children were taken to a place of safety and the driver was arrested.

A photo shared by Merseyside Police 's roads policing team showed the mattress that was packed tightly into the back of the van. A spokesperson from the roads policing team said: "Disgraceful behaviour by the driver of this van; he tested positive for Cannabis after being stopped for speeding on the M6.
"A subsequent search revealed three children sleeping on a mattress in the rear of the van! All children taken to a place of safety & driver #arrested #syn4."
