Three army personnel killed in encounter in Jammu & Kashmir's Kulgam

SRINAGAR: Three army jawans, who had been injured during an encounter with terrorists, tragically lost their lives in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Friday, according to officials.

"The three injured jawans succumbed to their injuries. Search operations are still under way," stated the Army in an official statement.

Before their unfortunate demise, the jawans were receiving medical treatment at a hospital, as informed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police on the same day.

On Friday, officials reported that the encounter occurred in the high reaches of the Halan forest area in Kulgam district.

"Both the Army and Kulgam Police are actively conducting the operation. Three jawans were injured and were promptly shifted to a hospital for treatment," said an official in an earlier statement.

On the same day, the Kashmir Zone Police had also notified about the encounter in the Halan forest area of Kulgam district, mentioning that the Army and Kulgam Police were engaged in the operation.

"An encounter has commenced at the high reaches of Halan forest area in #Kulgam district. The Army & Kulgam Police are diligently working on it. Further details shall follow," the Kashmir Zone Police had previously tweeted.
