MUMBAI: The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested the primary suspect, identified as Rajveer Khant, responsible for sending threatening ransom emails to Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director, Mukesh Ambani through a Virtual Private Network (VPN) using the email ID "[email protected]" between October 27 and November 1, from Gujarat.

Khant initially demanded Rs 20 crore and later increased the amount to Rs 400 crore when the industrialist did not respond to his multiple threatening emails. Additionally, the Gamdevi police, where the case was registered, arrested a 19-year-old college student from Telangana for sending a sixth threatening email (using his Gmail account) demanding Rs 500 crore from the industrialist.
