A Black Series four-pack has been announced to celebrate the Star Wars Legends Thrawn trilogy. The character of Thrawn, originally from the Legends timeline, has made his way into the current Star Wars canon in the New Republic era. This move signifies the growing importance of Thrawn to the Star Wars franchise.
The upcoming Star Wars TV shows are expected to delve deeper into Thrawn's canon stories, while future Star Wars movies are rumored to adapt the Legends trilogy penned by Timothy Zahn. The recent release of a Black Series collection by Hasbro further solidifies Thrawn's significance in the Star Wars universe.
The Black Series four-pack will feature Grand Admiral Thrawn and characters from Zahn's Heir to the Empire trilogy, including Luke Skywalker, Luuke, Joruus C'Boath, and Mara Jade. Titled after the final book in the trilogy, The Last Command, this collection will be available for pre-order exclusively at Hasbro Pulse on March 27, 2024, at 1 pm ET.
Given the direction of future Star Wars projects, the timing of the Hasbro Black Series release couldn't be more fitting. The original Legends Thrawn trilogy is now more integral to the franchise than ever before. With Thrawn's presence expanding in the New Republic era, it is anticipated that elements from the Thrawn trilogy will be incorporated into the official canon.
Clues to this integration were seen in Ahsoka, where Thrawn was referred to as the Heir to the Empire. The Mandalorian's encounters with Imperial Remnants and the exploration of Force-sensitive clones also hint at a possible adaptation of the Thrawn trilogy into canon material. Therefore, the Black Series collection honoring Zahn's original stories for Thrawn arrives at a time when the Chiss Imperial Admiral continues to exert influence over the Star Wars narrative.
