Thousands of breast cancer patients could benefit from a twice-daily pill newly approved for use on the NHS.
The charity Breast Cancer Now has welcomed a decision by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) to offer abemaciclib, which cuts the chance of the disease coming back once a tumour has been removed.
The drug, made by Eli Lilly, is suitable for patients with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative, node-positive early breast cancer at high risk of recurrence who have had surgery.
