HALIFAX — Thousands of residents in Nova Scotia are still without power after a winter storm hit the province over the weekend, bringing with it freezing rain that knocked down trees and power lines.
Parts of the province are under rainfall warnings today, with up to 90 millimetres of rain expected along the eastern shore and southern Cape Breton.
Nova Scotia Power's outage map indicates more than 2,000 customers are without power today.
Matt Drover with the private utility says the aim is to get the majority of customers back online today.
He says crews are removing the remaining ice and fallen tree branches left behind from the weekend storm while also dealing with high winds and heavy rain today.
Up to 120,000 customers in the province were without power due to the storm, which began Friday.
