Thousands of Twitter users could soon be charged £17 a month

Hundreds of thousands of Twitter users could soon be charged around £17 a month for using the social media platform.

Its new SEO, billionaire Elon Musk, is reportedly considering making its 240,000 verified users pay a $20 fee to keep their blue tick badge. Musk purchased Twitter last week for a reported $44 billion, or around £38 billion.

Platformer first reported on Sunday that Twitter may soon require users to have a paid subscription to Twitter Blue in order to retain their verified status. Twitter verification gives eligible accounts a blue tick badge in order to authenticate their identities to others.
