Thousands of Spotify users in Ireland locked out of accounts for hours as glitch crashes music app

Spotify is back up and running after thousands of Irish accounts crashed this evening.

Spotify users across the globe were experiencing issues with the music app, with many being locked out of their accounts.

Some were also sent notifications to say their accounts were deleted while others were unable to play songs.

There were over 1.43 million complaints online from customers on Twitter who were affected with one person writing: “Spotify i'm literally on my knees there's tears streaming down my face please do something.”

Another wrote: “Spotify being down is HUGE for us daily podcast listeners. Am I supposed to listen to the radio or something?”

Spotify quickly acknowledged the issue on social media, but didn’t give any information about when it might be fixed or what had happened.

It wrote: “Something’s not quite right, and we’re looking into it. Thanks for your reports!”

It also asked users affected by the outages to check its help pages.

However, customers then reported that the link was showing errors too, as was the rest of Spotify’s website.

An hour or two later Spotify tweeted again to confirm that operations were back up and running, and also advised customers who were continuing to have problems

It wrote: “Everything’s looking much better now! Give (SpotifyCares) a shout if you still need help.”
