Thousands of Ryanair passengers urged to check in well in advance or risk airport fines due to 'maintenance'

Ryanair customers flying between November 8 and 9 have just days to check-in in advance to avoid airport fines.

The warning comes as the Irish airline is planning ‘scheduled maintenance' on its website and app, which will see them switched off for an 11-hour period.

This means thousands of passengers who have not checked in well before their flight will only be able to do so at the airport within the 11-hour timeframe.

According to Airport rules, this could lead to some passengers being hit with a little-known fine before they board their plane.

Ryanair confirmed that its website and app will undergo scheduled maintenance from 6:00 pm on Tuesday, November 8 until 5:00 am on Wednesday, November 9.

During this time, passengers will not be able to check in online and are therefore being urged to do so before the outage kicks in.

Those who arrive at the airport to check in less than two hours before their flight departs will be slapped with an airport fee of €55 per person, or €30 for flights to and from Spain.

A notice posted on the Ryanair website reads: “Due to planned maintenance, Ryanair website/app will be temporarily down from 18.00hrs Tue, 8 – 05.00hrs Wed, 9 Nov.

“Customers who are due to fly during this 11-hour period should check-in online before 18.00hrs on Tue, 8 Nov.”
