Thousands of fans gather at Celtic Park to greet Hoops heroes after title win

Thousands of fans have gathered at Celtic Park to greet the team after they won their second Scottish Premiership title in a row.

The Hoops defeated 10-man Hearts 2-0 at Tynecastle this afternoon, Sunday, May 7, to clinch their 53rd league title and the fans weren't long in getting the celebrations underway.

The party atmosphere was in full swing as revellers got ready to welcome the players home. Crowds began to descend on the East End stadium soon after the final whistle in Edinburgh.

The Green Brigade circulated images online inviting fans to join them at the stadium and welcome the defending champions home.

Ahead of the team bus arriving, thousands of fans created a sea of green and white outside the stadium.

Children were pictured waving flags and green smoke from pyro filled the air as the expectant fans waited on the Celtic Way and outside the Main Stand for the players to take their bow.

Ange Postecoglou spoke after the game and explained the 'emotion' of the occasion after securing his fourth trophy as the Celtic manager.

He said "The whole football club embraced me from day one and I am just glad I am able to give something back.

He continued: "It's not easy. You have to put everything into it. It is a great responsibility, it takes a lot to get where we are and it was a massive effort form everyone.

"You get emotional because you understand everything that has gone into it."
