Thousands of Edinburgh passengers have been left 'stranded in the cold' at a busy station after being told not to travel to the capital for the remainder of the day.
Due to damaged overheard wires at Prestonpans Station, LNER have advised customers not to travel to Edinburgh, with passengers in East Lothian also affected.
Engineers from Network Rail have been working on repairing the wires since Thursday morning, December 15, but recently advised those travelling from England to defer their journey until Friday.

As a result, passengers have become stranded in the capital and those from Edinburgh have bene unable to make it home for the day, with LNER informing those who have been affected to keep their hotel receipts for a refund.
One customer hoping to travel to Edinburgh filmed a video of 'thousands' of passengers who were reportedly left stranded in Newcastle in the cold while the uncertainty of their journey home continued.
The person tweeted: "Stuck in Newcastle after all trains cancelled! @LNER @ScotRail what’s the story? Will the line be back up and running tonight?? No buses left we’re told…1000s of people standing out in the cold!"
An accompanying video captures scores of passengers crowded on various platforms and inside the station at Newcastle just before 4pm. LNER issued an update at 3:30pm confirming that no further services will run north of Newcastle.
They said: "No further services will run North of #Newcastle or depart from #Edinburgh for the remainder of the day. Customers are able to defer their journey until tomorrow (December 16)."
Passengers have also expressed their anger over the mass cancellations. One said: "Hi can you explain what has happened from Newcastle onto Edinburgh today? My young daughter stuck on a train from London today all trains cancelled to Edinburgh? 3 time trying to get home all previous cancelled."
Another added: "Stranded in Edinburgh for the night due to train cancellations around Berwick I was looking forward to my sausage, egg and chips when I got home tae!"
