Thousands of drivers can now save extra money on their fuel

Thousands of people can now get a discount on their petrol whenever they buy it from one of the UK's largest suppliers. Esso is offering money off fuel to people who work in the emergency services, NHS and armed forces.

Anyone who has a Blue Light Card can apply for an Esso Card from WEX Europe Services, entitling them to a special discount on their fuel. There's no cost for the card, minimum spend or monthly fee.

The Esso cards are accepted at all 1,200+ Esso-branded fuel stations in the UK - including more than 700 that are open 24-hours a day-and card-holders can use their card as much or as little as they like and with any of their household vehicles. All the cards have a PIN and in addition to saving money, you can also collect Nectar loyalty points whenever you fill up. The discount offered depends on the type of fuel. For Synergy Unleaded petrol, Esso Card holders get a 3p-per-litre discount (inclusive of VAT), for Synergy Diesel it's 4p-per-litre, Synergy Supreme+ 99 Unleaded - 5p-per-litre - and for Synergy Supreme+ Diesel it's 6p. With the cost of living crisis, this discount could quickly add up over time. The Liverpool Echo reports that drivers using the Esso Card could save an average of £110 per year.

Esso requires a payment method to be registered, so that fuel purchased through the Esso card can be charged to your credit or debit card. You can find out more about the Esso card online here.
