Thousands of Celtic fans gather at stadium to greet back-to-back champions

Thousands of fans flocked to Celtic Park yesterday to welcome the team after their big win at Tynecastle earned them their second Scottish Premiership title in a row.

The Hoops were crowned champions after winning 2-0 at Tynecastle yesterday afternoon, May 7 - their 53rd league title - as fans rushed to their playing ground to celebrate.

The east end of the city was in high spirits as crowds gathered to welcome the players home, with The Green Brigade inviting fans to join them at the stadium.

A sea of green and white could be seen as the team bus arrived in Parkhead. Fans, old and young, were pictured waving flags and green smoke from pyro filled the air as celebrations kicked off outside the Main Stand.

Goalkeeper Joe Hart said: "The fans are amazing, they go everywhere with us.

“It’s even sweeter to come to a stadium where they’ve tried to have as few in as possible.”

1,300 away fans followed the team to Edinburgh, with Celtic's official account tweeting: "Football without the fans is nothing."

Ange Postecoglou spoke after the game and explained the 'emotion' he felt after securing his fourth trophy as manager.

He said: "The whole football club embraced me from day one and I am just glad I am able to give something back.

He continued: "It's not easy. You have to put everything into it. It is a great responsibility, it takes a lot to get where we are and it was a massive effort form everyone.

"You get emotional because you understand everything that has gone into it."

In a message to fans the Aussie manager said: "I am immensely proud of this team and we thank you for all you have given us this year. Enjoy today with your families and your loved ones and celebrate all that is great about Celtic. You deserve it!"
